The Criminal Evidence Act 1992 was a groundbreaking piece of legislation  for its time. It dealt with the admission of documentary evidence and also facilitated the evidence of vulnerable victims and witnesses in criminal trials.

It has been amended several times but most significantly and perhaps confusingly by the Criminal Justice (Victims of Crime) 2017.

The sections relation to vulnerable witnesses are set out over the following pages in an attempt to clarify  what is available to who and when.
