'Registered Intermediaries are professionals with specialised skills in communication. They have professional backgrounds such as speech and language therapy, social work, clinical psychology and occupational therapy.   • The role of an intermediary is to assist vulnerable witnesses with communication difficulties to communicate with those in the justice system more effectively, which may be on account of a disability, age or other factor as determined by the Court. '
